Planning

Start as early as possible and plan ahead. Basically, students who have a problem with accommodation start to deal with the issue of choosing accommodation very late, when all comfortable and affordable options are occupied. Immediately after the university acceptance letter, start researching and planning. Some options ask for an advance payment (deposit) for the first month, but it is possible to find free bookable options.

Location

Research the neighborhood and transportation availability first. Suppose you are not going to stay in one of the university residences. In that case, the area should be safe, close to the university campus, and have a convenient transportation system so that you can use the university services at late hours or go to the active parts of the city and return safely.

Budget

Pay close attention to the budget. Accommodation costs are more expensive than the listed price because you will also pay for utilities and security. Also, plan so that you have extra money for eating, and buying things, because you will create your comfort in the new apartment/room.
